VICKIE L. EVANS

Vickie L. Evans is a gifted and talented professional that “wears many hats”.   She received the "Voices of Women" award from Delta-Sigma Theta for her oratorical skills and community service.  She  was also nominated for "Phenomenal Woman of the Year" by a peer of women entrepreneur group entitled, Sisters Enhancing Sisters.  As Award-winning playwright/director,  Vickie was honored with the 2014 Broadway World Charlotte Regional Award for Best Director in a Musical for her good-samaritan stage play, "The Gift."  She is also a best-selling author - her memoir, "Know Your Worth (Overcoming the Dragon of Low Self-Esteem")which ranked high in three different categories on the Amazon.com Bestsellers' List (5th in Emotions, 7th in Gender Studies and 7th in Women Studies.  

  • Entrepreneur - Vickie is the President of Soaring High Productions, whose dual-mission is: 1) to provide affordable step-by-step self-publishing assistance and consulting for aspiring authors and poets to aid in pursuing their dreams; and 2) to provide opportunities for aspiring performing artists, playwrights, and producers to display their talents via new works productions that promote social justice and equality.  

  • Philanthropist - She is also the founder of Performing Arts and Literary Society, better known as PALS, a non-profit organization, whose mission is to serve as a catalyst to educate and enlighten the community, organizations, schools, and churches, utilizing the performing and literary arts as a mechanism to raise awareness of social issues and concerns (such as domestic violence, homelessness, abortion, etc.), which are often difficult to convey through traditional and standardized means.

  • Domestic Violence Advocate - Vickie is an avid and outspoken advocate in the campaign to end domestic violence.  As a child-witness, she has first-hand knowledge about the effects that domestic violence had on her development into a young woman and how it affected her self-esteem.  She has developed a campaign entitled, Don’t Take Away My Innocence as a support mechanism for adult recovery and for intervention for children who are currently witnesses.  She is a member of the Domestic Violence Speakers’ Bureau in Charlotte, North Carolina. 

  • Award-Winning Playwright - She has written, directed, produced, and self-promoted numerous stage plays throughout the United States to include:  Pennsylvania, New York, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, Washington, DC, and North Carolina.  She is the playwright of “A Change Is Gonna Come”, which addresses the misconception of domestic violence demographics. It also speaks on physical, verbal, AND sexual abuse and how it touches the lives of all sections of society.   In June 2013, “A Change Is Gonna Come” was the only featured presentation at the DC Black Theatre Festival to sell out on-line, prior to the opening of the festival.  In October 2009, “A Change Is Gonna Come” received four top honors at the Velocity Magazine Awards, to include a "Best Director" award for Ms. Evans. 

  • National Bestselling Author - Vickie is the author of two books, The Art of Forgiving, a relationship-building memoir that emphasizes the importance of ridding oneself of relationship baggage by mastering the “art” of forgiving; and her best-selling memoir, Know Your Worth! (Overcoming the Dragon of Low Self- Esteem), an empowering, tell-all book that is designed to promote image-building by breaking the cycle of "low self-esteem".  This thought-provoking memoir received high honors in three different categories on the Amazon.com Bestsellers’ List:  5th in Emotion, 7th in Women Studies, and 7th in Gender Studies.

  • Vickie works tirelessly to make a difference in her community, with a passion for young ladies and mature women who have experienced love, relationship, and self-image issues.  In addition, she is also an advocate for family unity and seeks to decrease the number of divorces in this country through a divorce support group she established, entitled, “Life After Divorce” (LAD).  Vickie is committed to helping women discover their worth and strives to leave a legacy that will inspire others to be the best they can be!
